The CWC is a place of intention and healing. They host movement classes, body work, chiropractics - they even do horse massage! The collective truly cares about its clients and practicioners.
Circus of Life is not a workshop, but a playshop.
Let your inner child take flight. Build skills through playful practices of body awareness, balance, coordination and improvisation.
These practices connect deeply to our daily resilience and sense of humor.
Here we are free to laugh and celebrate mistakes without performance or comparison.
Balance like a flamingo!
Juggle like an octopus!
Clown like a coyote!
Circus of Life is a skill building course for finding Flow State and exploring the sacred purpose of clowning.
This playshop draws inspiration from the circus, not as a place of performance, but as a practice of courage, curiosity, and meeting challenges with support. We will strengthen our muscle-memory and awareness through balance and coordination activities! Play is our pathway into the flow state.
Balance and juggling are expressions of breath, movement, and stillness. Superpowers like these aren’t just for walking the razor’s edge or impressing your friends; they are lifelong practices that spill into every corner of life, expanding our pathways to access the Flow State. When we flow, our body and breath synchronize, our mind is calm, and creativity comes effortlessly.
Clowning, while certainly silly, has held a sacred purpose throughout history and across cultures. Clowns are healers who work with humor and satire to defy a jaded, fractured world. In all societies–indigenous, medieval and modern day–clowns critique the status quo and generate social harmony.
This course integrates energy movement, neurocognitive therapy, and improvisation through the lens of circus arts to develop Practical Flow. Classes begin with a Qigong routine to attune body movement and breath. Next, we will practice radical dual tasking for automatic movement by splitting attention through balance and juggling exercises. The last stage of the class reviews clown creed and engages with prompts for individual and group improv play. The courses are designed to build momentum from one to the next, but classes are playful and impactful on their own too. All ages and skill levels are encouraged!
